Practical Machine Learning in Asset Management: Manager selection and valuing the secondary sale of private assets
Join Lydia Ofori, CFA, CAIA, Adam Duncan, and Keith Black, PhD, CFA, CAIA, FDP as they discuss how machines are interfacing with humans to effect manager selection and private asset secondary sales.
The webinar will discuss key questions that sit across technology and finance:

• How would the interface between technology applications enhance our ability to pick the best managers and companies?
• What are the limitations on artificial intelligence and other machine learning based models that are most likely to hinder or interrupt results?

The Financial Data Professional Institute (FDPI), established by CAIA Association, has designed a self-study program to provide financial professionals with an efficient path to learn the essential aspects of financial data science.  

Formal remarks of the presentation will last approximately 45 minutes, with 15 minutes for Q&A.

Lydia Ofori, CFA, CAIA is Founder & CEO of Hunter Labs Technologies where she is responsible for product design & business strategy. Lydia has 19 years+ investment industry experience, frequently speaker at industry events and was named Finalist for the Investment Week Investment Woman of the Year Award (Small to Medium Business) 2019. She was a Milken Institute Young Leader in 2017, sat on the CFA UK Continuing Education Committee for 5 years and the Education Committee for 100 Women in Finance for 3 years. Lydia is a CAIA as well as CFA Charterholder and has completed Executive Education at Columbia Business School, New York. Lydia holds a Masters (MSc) in Financial Management and a Honors degree in business studies from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen Scotland. Lydia published the preliminary paper for Hunter Labs Technologies; ‘The Future is Now: A marriage of novel technologies and traditional financial infrastructure for the democratization of privately held assets’
Adam Duncan
Head of Investment Sciene Unit @Cambridge Association LLC
Adam is the Head of the Investment Science Unit and is a Partner and Managing Director in Cambridge Associates’ Boston office. He is the former head of the Portfolio Modeling and Analytics Group where he oversaw the development of the factor models and portfolio decomposition tools in use at Cambridge Associates. He has also held senior roles in manager research where he focused on investment opportunities in diversifying asset classes and strategies, including CTA/managed futures, alternative beta and risk premia, active currency, and volatility trading strategies as well as discretionary and systematic macro programs. Adam’s research interests include skill and anomaly detection, predictive modeling related to manager selection, and process automation.
Keith Black, PhD, CFA, CAIA, FDP
Managing Director @FDP Institute
Dr. Keith Black has over twenty-five years of financial market experience, serving approximately half of that time as an academic and half as a trader and consultant to institutional investors. He currently serves as Managing Director at the FDP Institute. Recently he served as the Managing Director of Content Strategy for the CAIA Association. Dr. Black previously served as an assistant professor and senior lecturer at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
