Summer Inflation Series - Session 2: The Fundamentals of Infrastructure and a Current Market Update
Join Aaron Filbeck, CFA, CAIA, CIPM, FDP, Director, Global Content Development at the CAIA Association and Andrew Killian, CAIA, Senior Vice President, Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets at Macquarie Group as they discuss infrastructure and the current market update. This session will be moderated by Millissa Allen, CAIA, Managing Director, Global Head, Fundamentals of Alternative Investments at CAIA.

Infrastructure serves as an important element of an investment portfolio. In this presentation Aaron Filbeck will provide an overview infrastructure as an asset class, explore the historical performance of infrastructure, and comment on their role in asset allocation and inflation protection. We compare the differences between infrastructure and financial assets. Various methods of obtaining exposure to infrastructure are evaluated and we conclude look specifically at rising inflation and the possible implications.

Aaron Filbeck, CAIA, CFA, FDP, CIPM
Director, Global Content Development @CAIA
Aaron Filbeck serves as Director of Global Content Development at CAIA Association, where he supports the curation, development, and execution of the organization’s content strategy and CAIA Charter Program curriculum. A demonstrated writer, Aaron has published on topics such as environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing, liquid alternatives, commodities, and asset pricing/factor investing. Prior to his role at CAIA Association, Aaron served as a portfolio manager at The Joseph Group Capital Management, a registered investment adviser (RIA) in Columbus, OH. Here, he oversaw manager research and portfolio construction efforts for $500 million worth of high net worth individuals and institutional retirement plans. Aaron earned a B.S. with distinction in Finance and a Master of Finance from Penn State University. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and Certificate in Performance Measurement (CIPM) designations.
Andrew Killian, CAIA
Senior Vice President @Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets at Macquarie Group
Andrew is a Relationship Manager in Macquarie Asset Management’s Client Solutions Group. He is responsible for working with the firm's global private funds to build and maintain relationships with institutional limited partners and their advisors. Andrew has spent the majority of his career partnering with investors in the real assets space, having previously worked at Brookfield Asset Management and Cohen & Steers Capital Management. While at Macquarie, Andrew has served in multiple roles including as a member of Macquarie’s Global Listed Infrastructure team where he served as a senior product specialist. Andrew received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
Millissa Allen, CAIA
Managing Director, Global Head, Fundamentals of Alternative Investments @CAIA
Millissa joined CAIA Association in September 2013. Ms. Allen, who earned her CAIA Charter in 2012, oversees strategic initiatives to promote the CAIA program and deepen industry relationships throughout the USA and Canada. Prior to joining CAIA, Ms. Allen served as Director of Sales Operations at Hatteras Funds for eight years, where she managed client relationships, orchestrated multi-level marketing campaigns, led sales and marketing training, and managed more than 100 sales-related events per year. Ms. Allen brings tremendous energy, expertise, and innovation to CAIA’s efforts to introduce the CAIA Charter to new audiences and to expand CAIA’s visibility within companies already dedicated to promoting the CAIA Charter internally. Ms. Allen received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland.
